Pauline Van Dongen talks about solar harvesting in clothing. Another great overview video by the Creators Project.
From previous research that led me to many things, I need to remind myself to make a little montage now and again… This was one of my 1st and favourite little videos

… Leather Goth Pete!
Crazy emotional and bamboozling day in Dundee at my 3rd Starter for 6 Session. It was good, hard, enlightening and extremely useful.
Ended the day in the pub with this crazy cat Pete from https://www.facebook.com/leathergothStudio applying thermochromic dyes to raw leather over a pint of Hoegaarden! Yay!
I LOVE Teenage Engineering! I love the way their products look, I love the way they advertise, I love their brand. Thinking of ways to connect this to some textiles now! Any ideas? I'm looking for collaborators, so if you think we have a project here and can apply for funding get in touch and I'll see what we can do!
Up the fashion/music/fashion revolution!
We didn't manage to see very much but we met some AMAZING people and had a great time.
Newcastle Makerfaire UK has just passed and we are only just recovering from the buzz and adrenalin from two days of intense talking, screen-printing, explaining and showing off our creations. It's fair to say that we both had an excellent time and will definitely be coming back (if they'll have us!)
Thank you very much to everyone that came along and had a go with the bags. Thank you to all that inspired us and shared information and contacts, and thank you to MakerfaireUK for inviting us along. We had a most excellent adventure.
You can see more pictures here on allenomis enter the fold.
The last three weeks have been busy mental with the science festival and various other events that I've been building up to for a long time.
My previous position at Heriot Watt University was as a research associate and I was tasked to prototype a 'smart' costume. Finally the costume was finished and featured at the science festival and had some fantastic reactions. It was great getting a chance to speak to people about it, the processes and the materials used and to see it working as a finished piece. You can read more about that journey here on my other blog codedchromics.
One of the most exciting developments to happen recently is a collaboration with myself and allenomis (Annalisa Simonella). We've started our own little outfit called allenomis enter the fold. ANYWAY, the point being that we ran a workshop at the Edinburgh Mini Makerfaire where you could come and print your own colour changing bag! Amazing and magic (well, science really but still pretty cool).
Just so you know and you don't feel like you've missed out, you can find us again at the UK Makerfaire in Newcastle this coming weekend. We'll be doing the same again. Come and see us. http://www.makerfaireuk.com
